Tony Silbert began his career in the community benefit sector in 1986 leading urban youths on wilderness adventures. Since then, he has worked with organizations of all sizes, covering virtually every aspect of the "nonprofit" world, including health & human services, education & youth development, literacy, the arts, civic engagement, and public policy. As a consultant, he has helped clients win over 540 grant awards totaling more than $49,000,000. These funds have enabled Tony's clients to build their capacity, expand programs, construct new facilities, and sustain their operations.
Tony graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy. He received his Masters in Public Policy from the University of Southern California - where he teaches grantsmanship in the School of Policy, Planning, and Development. He was previously the Director of Foundations, Grants & Research at the University of Judaism (now the American Jewish University). Prior to that, he was a Grant & Contract Officer at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
Tony is a founding Board Member of The Harmony Project, a nationally acclaimed, award-winning nonprofit organization that builds healthier children, families and communities through music. He has been a contributing writer for Foundation & Corporate Grants Alert and CharityChannel's Grants & Foundations Review, as well as a speaker and contributor for various efforts to educate the "nonprofit" community.
